И без того классный ноутбук стал еще лучше. Новый цвет, более мощный процессор и качественная веб-камера — все вместе собираются в приятный букет обновлений. Но рекомендовать MacBook Air M4 для серьезных графических и творческих задач нельзя. Как и прежде, лучше взять MacBook Pro 14. Стоит дороже, но лучше и в плане производительности, и по экрану. А процессоры M4 Pro и M4 Max в этом году сильно ускакали вперед по мощности.

Despite the fact that this is is a bit of Prime Day spin, this is still a very good price for the 13in M4 MacBook Air; it’s our favourite laptop right now, by the way, and for good reason. It’s fast, beautifully made, has a brilliant screen, keyboard and touchpad. The speakers are awsome, battery life is brilliant and it runs completely silently as there’s no fan inside. It is not particularly brilliant at gaming and the 256GB SSD is on the small side – but in every other respect, there’s no better laptop you can buy for £849. If fact, I’d go so far as to say if this is your budget and gaming isn’t a priority, you shouldn’t be looking at anything else. The 13in M4 MacBook Air is the best laptop around and the price is fantastically reasonable. Just don’t call it a Prime Day deal.

After all of my testing and typing was done, I’ve returned to the same conclusion I had last year: the 15-inch MacBook Air M4 is the laptop I’m telling nearly everyone to get. Unless you need a laptop small enough for a seat-back tray on a plane (get the 13-inch MacBook Air or think about the iPad Mini), the combination of a larger display with Apple’s nimble M4 performance and excellent keyboard is hard to argue against. Those who prefer a laptop with a touchscreen should check out the Microsoft Surface Laptop and the Lenovo Slim 7x, and especially the former if you like USB-A. Lastly, anyone who’s got a MacBook Air with M2 or M3? Unless you really need that extra 20% or so performance or really fancy this Sky Blue design, I think you’re already good.

Most people, if they own anything other than a phone, keep only one additional device. If you decide that device should be a laptop, the MacBook Air is the best choice there is. It’s light as a feather and powerful enough to handle everything I could throw at it with absolute grace. Personally, I don’t have room in my life for a MacBook. I always plan on having some manner of desktop Mac to run my Plex server and store my media libraries. I’m happy with my Apple Vision Pro headset for handling lighter work and home entertainment. If I were to add another form factor to the mix, I would sooner grab an iPad for its unique capabilities as a tablet. Still, I was impressed by my time with the M4 Macbook Air for this review. It’s good to know that the vast majority of people who prefer laptops still have an excellent choice.

The new MacBook Air may not be as seminal a machine as the recently updated Mac Mini, but it’s easily one of the best MacBook Airs Apple has ever released. It’s powerful, well-built, thin and light, has a long battery life, and is even cheaper than the model it replaces. Furthermore, it now comes with 16GB of memory as standard, which addresses one of our longest-standing and biggest issues with Apple’s base configuration MacBooks. However, it’s not perfect. The Liquid Retina display is starting to look outdated now given that most Windows laptops are steadily transitioning to OLED displays. Throttling can be an issue on longer or more intensive workloads. Also, having just 256GB and two USB-C ports is a bit miserly. Thankfully, none of these are dealbreakers and don’t detract from the fact that, for most people, the MacBook Air is all the MacBook they’ll need.

The MacBook Air 13-inch (M4) has an excellent build and design, working on it is a pleasure, and the M4 provides all the power I need for the widest range of tasks. I appreciate the long battery life, bright, colorful screen, and clear audio. It has enough ports to support my almost always connected external screen, and I’m glad there’s still a vestigial 3.5mm headphone jack. macOS and the supporting Apple ecosystem are unparalleled. I’m still somewhat disappointed in Apple Intelligence, but hopeful we’ll see significant updates in the coming months – and Siri must get better soon if Apple hopes to compete in the AI space.

I’m going to go ahead and give the 2025 MacBook Air 13 a perfect score. It’s about time. To begin with, this might very well be the perfect 13-inch (or 14-inch) thin-and-light laptop design. It’s solid as a rock, looks great, and is eminently portable given its insane thinness. No, it doesn’t have OLED (yet), but until OLED can provide the same kind of efficiency, it’s not necessarily the best tradeoff for this class of laptop. It’s also very fast, beating out its competition in multi-core performance and demolishing it in single-core speed. And, its battery life maintains the most attractive performance-efficiency ratio over the best Windows has to offer. With a starting price of $1,000 for a very usable configuration, the only reason to pass up the MacBook Air 13 is if you just simply can’t live without Windows. I suspect that this will be fewer and fewer people as time goes by.

After all of my testing and typing was done, I’ve returned to the same conclusion I had last year: the 15-inch MacBook Air M4 is the laptop I’m telling nearly everyone to get. Unless you need a laptop small enough for a seat-back tray on a plane (get the 13-inch MacBook Air or think about the iPad Mini), the combination of a larger display with Apple’s nimble M4 performance and excellent keyboard is hard to argue against. Those who prefer a laptop with a touchscreen should check out the Microsoft Surface Laptop and the Lenovo Slim 7x, and especially the former if you like USB-A. Lastly, anyone who’s got a MacBook Air with M2 or M3? Unless you really need that extra 20% or so performance or really fancy this Sky Blue design, I think you’re already good.

Unfortunately, these are not large enough technological leaps for existing customers to buy the new model.

The MacBook Air M4 is an easy sell. It’s the complete package for most people, and if you want a better screen or options of a more powerful chip then there’s the MacBook Pro M4. The lower price combined with the bump in memory to 16GB across the board makes this a fantastic deal – how often can that be said about Apple’s products? There’s nothing to entice anyone happy with their M3 or M2 models, aside from some slight performance gains and a few extra hours of endurance, but if you jumped on the Apple Silicon bandwagon early with the M1 then this is a worthy upgrade. My only real criticism is that the screen is starting to show its age compared to the best laptops and best ultrabooks. It’s perfectly fine, but without ProMotion, a matte option and no OLED variant, this is the only area I want to see upgraded on the next model.

The new MacBook Air may not be as seminal a machine as the recently updated Mac Mini, but it’s easily one of the best MacBook Airs Apple has ever released. It’s powerful, well-built, thin and light, has a long battery life, and is even cheaper than the model it replaces. Furthermore, it now comes with 16GB of memory as standard, which addresses one of our longest-standing and biggest issues with Apple’s base configuration MacBooks. However, it’s not perfect. The Liquid Retina display is starting to look outdated now given that most Windows laptops are steadily transitioning to OLED displays. Throttling can be an issue on longer or more intensive workloads. Also, having just 256GB and two USB-C ports is a bit miserly. Thankfully, none of these are dealbreakers and don’t detract from the fact that, for most people, the MacBook Air is all the MacBook they’ll need.

Графические процессоры этой категории производительности справятся со многими играми, если не гнаться за максимальным разрешением и качеством картинки. Сравнительно умеренное энергопотребление таких GPU обеспечит увеличение времени автономной работы.
Apple M4 10-Core GPU: Интегрированный графический адаптер, разработанный компанией Apple и имеющий 10 ядер. Этот iGPU встроен в Apple M4 SoC (как 9-ядерный, так и 10-ядерный); он использует унифицированную архитектуру памяти и по своим характеристикам не сильно отличается от 10-ядерного GPU M3. Первые сравнения в бенчмарках между 10-ядерным GPU M4 и 10-ядерным GPU M3 намекают на прирост производительности до 15%, однако важно сразу же отметить, что устойчивость чипа M4 будет очень низкой из-за тонкого корпуса новых iPad, в котором отсутствует какое-либо активное охлаждение. Как и остальные части чипа Apple M3, графический адаптер производится по "второму поколению 3 нм" техпроцесса TSMC.
Apple M4 8-Core GPU: Графический адаптер, встроенный в самую маленькую Apple SoC серии M4, которая дебютирует в октябре 2024 года вместе с новым iMac. Неясно, идет ли речь о 10-ядерном графическом процессоре M4 с двумя отключенными ядрами, или же Apple действительно выпускает совершенно новую SoC M4, в которой количество ядер CPU и GPU уменьшено. Его производительность должна быть примерно такой же, как у AMD Radeon 760M.

Apple M4:
M4 (10 cores): Очень производительный процессор (SoC) архитектуры ARM. Располагает 4 быстрыми и 6 экономными ядрами, 16-ядерным модулем ускорения задач ИИ и 10-ядерным графическим адаптером с поддержкой аппаратной трассировки лучей. Прочие важные особенности - оперативная память с эффективной частотой 7500 МГц, поддержка USB 4 и Thunderbolt 3. 10-ядерный M4 был представлен в мае 2024 года вместе с новыми iPad Pro; он даёт на 10...20% больше быстродействия, чем M3 (подверсия с 10 графич. ядрами), в недолгих многопоточных задачах - и на 10% больше, чем младший, 9-ядерный M4. Встроенный здесь графический адаптер также даёт больше производительности, чем у 9-ядерного M4 и M3 с 10 графич. ядрами.
